Animation Workshops
We were very pleased to welcome back Helen Hewitt for the animation workshops. Helen spent a day in each class and groups of 3-4 children created their own animation videos. Everyone will receive a cd of the videos which were made by the groups in their class. We are very grateful to the PTA for their continued support of this extremely worthwhile but rather costly project, which again meant that we did not have to ask parents for a voluntary contribution to the costs. We look forward to seeing Helen again in the summer term when we are working on Chehalis, our Production. Like last year, Helen will be our artist in residence for three days and she will work with a group of children who will have chosen to make the workshop with Helen their main contribution to the Production.

Y6 Production : Chehalis
First week, Spring Term and the writers of the script will be meeting to discover the storyline of this year's production. For everyone else, it will remain Top Secret for a while yet. It can be revealed that the story is set in the future, in a city called Chehalis, which is not a pleasant place to live . . . . if you do not have blue eyes! The writers will work in small teams and will share the writing of the scenes between them. Last year, we started in February and we finished at the beginning of June with 95 pages of typed script! It could be shorter this year.
A day in Ancient Greece
In the morning, we put Ancient Greek democracy to the test and evaluated it's fairness and the way it has influenced voting today.
In the afternoon and citizen was put on trial, found guilty and executed. Poor old Sturtogenes!
After swearing an oath to Zeus, the games at Olympia began. Congratulations to Sparta (6T) for winning after many events such as chariot racing, recitation, dance, sock wrestling, knee boxing, the throwing events and of course, the marathon.
On Your Doorstep - a local study
During our Integrated Learning Unit, On Your Doorstep, we looked at the impact of th eWest Waterlooville Development on Waterlooville itself and Denmead. During our work we received a visit from a representative from Wimpey's.
